I’ve been through a lot since becoming a mom.
Okay, now that’s an understatement.
- I’ve moved so many times I’ve lost count.
- I’ve been a stay-at-home mom, a student mom, a full-time working mom, and every variation in between.
- I’ve had to figure out how our family was going to eat during the numerous layoffs my husband has had over the years.
- I’ve lived away from my husband for weeks, even months at a time.
And I’ve had numerous people tell me they don’t know how I’ve managed to cope with it all.
But, honestly, for a very long time, I just did what had to be done.
I may not have liked it, but I got through it.
In May 2016, I was overwhelmed and stressed the f out. I’d finally hit my breaking point and realized something had to change.
And I hid my meltdown well.
Once I had had enough, I took baby steps to get my life back on track.
But I’d be lying if I said I saw instant results.
In fact, I felt worse for a period of time, falling into a minor depression.
But eventually, I kept trying and things got better.
Over time, my outlook about all the mom stresses changed and things that used to stress me out no longer did.
I created new, healthier habits. And, today, I wonder how I ever lived without them.
Right now, I’m the most laid back version of myself ever. I’m not saying that I never yell and scream at the kids, but I definitely don’t feel as stressed or anxious as before.
Let me be clear: I’m not perfect. I have days where I feel annoyed and overwhelmed, but usually, they are limited to just before my period, so that’s way better than waking up feeling stressed out every day!
When I started Life Spark with Lauren, I was in the early days of my recovery and I wanted to share what I’d done to feel less overwhelmed. I was excited to see results and wanted you to hear about the techniques I tried.
But the blog took a few twists and turns and ultimately I stopped focusing on writing about stress and ended up writing about other things related to motherhood, health, and well-being.
I’ve gone months between blog posts and even went through a few phases of wanting to scrap the whole thing.
But I never stopped completely because I always remembered why I started this blog in the first place – for you (and because I can never stay away from writing for too long *wink*).
However, for sometime now, I’ve been feeling the need to do something different. I wasn’t quite sure what and a few times I thought I did, but now I think I’ve figured it out.
At least, I figured out my next move for now
I’m going back to my original reason for starting this – to help moms master the stresses of motherhood.
But in order to reach as many moms as possible, I’ve decided to rebrand the blog to a new web address.
I’m going to keep that part a secret until launch, but I think you’ll like the new name.
I’m still going to write my weekly Thursday emails, but I’m not sure yet if I’ll keep the name “Spark Weekly”.
And I do know that I want to continue to use those emails to share personal stories related to mom life in hopes that they continue to inspire and motivate you.
The new site won’t launch for a few months and I’ll continue to send emails to subscribers each week.
But I won’t be posting anymore new blog posts on Life Spark with Lauren. Instead, I’ll be spending the next few weeks writing for the new blog so that you have a few things to read when it’s live.
If you have any suggestions for things you’d like to see posted on the new blog, leave me a comment below and let me know! Maybe there is something that you’ve wanted to learn more about that could help you better cope with your daily mom stress, but you haven’t really had the time to look into it. If it’s a good match for the blog, I’d be more than happy to look into it and write about it for you!
Also, if you are a blogger, too, and are looking for someone to guest post about mom stress on your blog, I’d love to collaborate and create a guest post for you to use once my new site is live. Just comment below and let me know your ideas and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Before I go, I can’t leave without thanking you again for following me along on this admittedly bumpy journey.
My goal with writing is always to inform and inspire and I’m always trying to figure out a better way to be of service to the mom community. I really think the new blog name and focus will allow me to make a bigger impact.
I can’t wait for you to see it!
Life Spark with Lauren is changing soon!
I’m not posting anything new on this blog, but I am sending weekly emails to my subscribers. If you’re a stay-at-home mom looking for guidance on how to manage your stress, you’ll want to get these emails and be the first to know about the new blog launch (May 2020)! Leave me your email address below and I’ll send you weekly updates every Thursday of how I’m managing my daily mom stress.
